Annapolis is a beautiful city, with waterfront views and lots of local businesses. While Annapolis is known for seafood and sailboats, it’s also home to some amazing coffee shops. After living in Annapolis for a year, I’ve put together a list of my 6 favorite coffee spots.

Brown Mustache Coffee is (in my opinion) the cutest coffee spot in downtown Annapolis. It’s on Maryland Avenue, a historic street with lots of local businesses. They serve Ceremony Coffee, which is another popular coffee shop in Annapolis. This hidden gem is located inside of Old Fox Books, so you can enjoy your coffee inside the bookstore or in the adorable backyard garden. The menu includes coffee and espresso drinks, tea lattes, and gluten free baked goods. So grab a latte and a book, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere!

If you’re looking for a cozy coffee spot in downtown Annapolis, this is your place. Bean Rush Cafe is inside of a charming house on Annapolis Street, next to Always Ice Cream. It’s a residential area right outside of downtown, and the homes are beautiful and historic. They have coffee and espresso drinks, smoothies, frappes, and teas. When you get hungry, try one of their sandwiches, salads, or paninis. There’s a breakfast menu too, which includes bagels, pastries and overnight oats. This is the ideal spot for spending a morning on your laptop. My only complaint is that they’re only open until 2pm on Sundays.

The Red Bean is on Main Street, an adorable and busy street in downtown Annapolis with local boutiques and restaurants. When you look down Main Street, you can view the water and sailboats at City Dock. The Red Bean is an awesome coffee spot with delicious lattes and a bright and cheery atmosphere. They also serve ice cream and homemade waffle cones! It’s a one-stop shop for your favorite summer treats. And don’t forget about the yummy baked goods by the cash register! It’s also great that they’re open until 10pm Tuesday through Saturday.

Rise Up originated on the Eastern Shore and has expanded throughout Maryland and Delaware. It’s an Annapolis favorite, and you’ll probably see someone with a bumper sticker or Rise-Up t-shirt out in public. The vibe is modern and trendy, and the coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew and lattes are delicious. There’s also a breakfast menu with several vegetarian options. And don’t forget about their famous coffee smoothie!

Bitty & Beau’s has an amazing location at Dock Street, in the heart of downtown Annapolis. They serve quality coffee drinks, along with muffins, cookies, and brownies. This coffee spot is popular year round but especially in the summer when people are hanging out by the water. Bitty & Beau’s has been featured on The Today Show, CNN, Good Morning America, and many other popular publications. Founders Amy and Ben Wright started Bitty & Beau’s with a mission to employ people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their mission is also to create opportunities for people with disabilities and to include them in the community. As another Annapolis favorite, you must add Bitty & Beau’s to your coffee shop bucket list!

Baltimore Coffee and Tea Co. is a coffee lover’s dream. They have over 120 varieties of roasted coffees from around the world, and they brew six varieties of coffee each day. Baltimore Coffee and Tea Co. is also a great place for breakfast or lunch, with an extensive food menu of sandwiches, soups, salads, pastries, and bagels. The Annapolis location is at Annapolis Towne Centre, so you can stop here while you’re out shopping. Don’t forget to try the delicous flavored coffees too!
